For more than 20 years, colleagues at Solihull have supported the local community through the Solihull Employee Charity Committee. Thanks to our colleagues' generosity, the employee-led committee has donated more than £3 million to local charities since 2000 – including an impressive £70,000 in the past two years!
One of the many ways the Solihull plant supports our local community is through your Solihull Employee Charity Committee - a group of volunteer employees who collect your donations and distribute them to worthwhile charities in the West Midlands you've chosen or nominated.
For more than two decades, the Solihull Employee Charity Committee has taken your generous contributions and used them to support those in our region who need it most. The group was established over 20 years ago and, during that time, the committee has donated in excess of £3 million to hundreds of local charities and good causes.
Rarely has the committee been more important than during the last two years, as the impact of the global coronavirus pandemic has seen many people negatively impacted within our community.
To help local organisations cope with the pandemic, the committee has given more than £20,000 to charities dedicated to helping some of the region’s most vulnerable, including Birmingham University Hospitals Trust, NSPCC and Age UK Solihull.
The committee can help us to celebrate, too. As Solihull marked the 50th anniversary of Range Rover in 2020, the committee kicked off the festivities by donating £50,000 to charities nominated by colleagues across the plant.
“The Solihull Employee Charity Committee has been helping people in the Solihull community and further afield for decades. We’ve helped homeless charities, children’s charities, emergency services, you name it – and it’s all thanks to the generosity of our wonderful colleagues.
“I’d like to thank everyone for their contributions over the years, and there is more to come. We’ve got plenty of exciting things lined up and I’d like to invite as many people as possible to get involved this year by donating money, nominating their favourite charities and maybe even joining the committee so we can help even more people together.”
