There are just two days to go until our next Halewood Foodbank Takeover- so you still have time to stock up on some extra packets and tins!
This Wednesday (31 March)we will be converting our Admin People Centre, in Trim & Final, into a temporary foodbank, in order to generate as many donations as possible for Knowsley Foodbank, which is in desperate need of essential food items.
From 08:00 to 16:00, employees will be able to make food and toiletry donations at the People Centre, or in your own area’s designated temporary foodbank.
On Track spoke to Kim Challis, from Underbody, who volunteers at Knowsley Foodbank, about the importance of this week’s takeover, she said: “I started volunteering at the foodbank after Christmas so I’ve seen first-hand, just what a difference support from companies like ours can make.
“Being a mum myself, it breaks my heart to think that some families can’t afford to put food on the table for their kids, which is why it’s so important that we all rally around and dig deep to help support this campaign to make a real difference.
“There are people using the foodbank that are just like me and you… they had good jobs and were doing well and then because of coronavirus, they have lost their jobs and their whole world’s and livelihoods been turned upside down. Its charities like Knowsley Foodbank that have become a lifeline for them and picked them up when they are at their lowest, so please, please donate, if you can. A small donation from a company as large as ours, goes a very long way.”
As Knowsley Foodbank is marking its 10 year anniversary this year, we will be hosting four takeovers this year and have set employees the challenge of donating a total of 10,000 food items by the end of 2021 and will keep you regularly updated of our progress.
As well as food donations, we will also be accepting clothing, PPE and toiletry donations on Wednesday, for local charity, Help Finder, which supports vulnerable people living in Liverpool City Centre.
