Last December, we proudly watched teams and colleagues from across our factory, come together to donate more than 6000 food items to Knowsley Foodbank, as part of our first Halewood Foodbank Takeover.
This helped to feed hundreds of families in Merseyside over the festive season and in true Halewood style, we are planning to do it all over again.
Please dig deep once more as on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 December we will be converting our people centres on site into temporary foodbanks, in order to generate as many donations as possible for Knowsley Foodbank, which is in desperate need of food and essential items.
Team Talk spoke with Toni Bell, Food Operations Manager, at Knowsley Foodbank and The Big Help Project, about how Halewood employees can make a huge difference to families in need this Christmas time.
Toni said: “To say the last year has been hard is an understatement. The demand for our services has been beyond anything we could have imagined and in 2021 we have fed over 77,000 people.
“Knowsley Foodbank exists for people who can’t afford food and are in financial crisis and sadly this is becoming more common than you think and calls to our Food Support Line have rocketed.
“With the rise in infection rates this winter and so many people self-isolating or unable to work, we expect the situation to get much worse as we approach Christmas and are calling on the support of local businesses like Jaguar Land Rover, to help with donations.
“Whether it’s a tin of beans, a bag of nappies or a few spare pounds, it all makes a huge difference and will go a long way towards supporting a family in need this Christmastime.”
The next Halewood Foodbank Take Over will take place on Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 December.
From 08:00 to 16:00, employees will be able to make food and toiletry donations at your departmental People Centre, or in your own area’s designated temporary foodbank.
