FA3 recently launched a ‘Skills School’ for associates with 5,288 employees having successfully completed the training since June. Over the last 12 months, there has been significant recruitment growth within the business so it’s really important for our associates to be well trained and start to live our Creator’s Code to deliver for our customers and each other.
That’s where the 'Skills School' comes in! With growth in production, the requirement for skilled associates grows with it. With such a high volume of new employees, the training hub gives new employees an insight into what their job will entail, the challenges they may encounter, how to resolve problems and much more - so they are better equipped on the production line.
Hayley Weaver, Resource Planning Specialist at Solihull said:
“In the training, we give a new starter an insight into the cost we spend due to damage by people, and this is something they just can't imagine. This instantly changes their mindset from the start. The Skills School then works through real time and OT to get the operators to the training as they go through the build hall. Looking forward we will have a link set up so people from across the plant can come along to it.
The training also embodies the Creators' Code as it encourages associates to work with Unity, prioritising asking for help from peers and helping one another to ensure the quality of our vehicles. And as a result, since the summer launch, FA3's Operational Performance Rate (OPR), First Time Through (FTT) and ETS has shown huge improvements. Hayley said “we still have a way to go but together we will do it!”
So far the Skills School has been well received and plans are being made to make the training sessions available to employees across the plant – keep your eyes peeled for more info!
