Three Jaguar I-PACEs to be unleashed at the Simola Hillclimb
Jaguar Land Rover
Three I-PACEs will battle it in the King of the Hill race at the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb in May.
Driven by a trio of South Africa’s motorsport icons – Mike Briggs, Deon Joubert and Shaun Watson-Smith – they will each drive the all-electric SUV up the 1.9km course as quickly as they can against hybrids and traditional combustion engine rivals.
With more than 20 titles between them and a wealth of racing experience in the South African, British and Asian touring car championships, this will be the trio’s first time competing in an electric vehicle, as they tussle for the overall bragging rights.
This fascinating contest is the perfect way to mark ten years of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb at the Knysna Speed Festival – South Africa’s equivalent to Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The competition starts with the annual Classic Car Friday competition, before the practice runs for the King of the Hill event start on Saturday, with the finale on Sunday afternoon.
