Halewood’s Kim Challis has been appointed as the new Co-Chair of JLR Pride, in a move that will see her become the first JLR manufacturing associate to chair one of our global D&I networks.
Kim, who is the A-shift clerk in Body Production, has spent the last 18 months working as the lead of the Halewood Pride Network, where she has played a key role in driving awareness of D&I across the plant.
The incredible engagement she has delivered at Halewood has been recognised across the business and last September she was asked to represent our plant at the Exceptional Together 10-Minute Talks in Gaydon. During the event, Kim spoke openly about the need to make people feel safe and able to communicate respectfully, freely and openly without fear of judgement.
Kim said: “I am really excited about being Co-Chair of JLR Pride because for me, it sometimes feels like these positions are reserved for people who hold office-based roles. I have now been given the opportunity to be a voice to the people from the shop floor, something I’m extremely passionate about.”
She added: “It also sends out a positive message for the business as it shows that it doesn’t matter who you are, where you work, or what level you are at, you can still get things done, drive change and make an impact.”
Steph Stephenson, Halewood HR Director, said: “This is game-changing as Kim is the first associate to lead a global network and we are so proud of what she has achieved. She will be able to bring a manufacturing lens to all the fantastic work which is taking place across the business and help drive forward the D&I agenda to all our global colleagues.”
