A message from Dave Owen, Solihull Operations Director
Welcome back after what was, for the most part, a warm and sunny Easter!
I hope you spent time with loved ones and took some time out to do things a normal working week doesn’t allow.
My family and I took the opportunity to drive a Land Rover Discovery up to Scotland, taking in the sights of Edinburgh and Glasgow. The weather wasn’t quite as good as here, but the six of us enjoyed time together and the Disco ensured even the third row passenger had no cause for complaint. It really is a capable, versatile, fantastic vehicle.
While we were all off, plenty was happening in our business. I’m sure, like me, you’re delighted to hear the news that I-PACE won three World Car of the Year awards - something never before achieved in the 15 years it has been running.
For our business to win World Car of the Year, World Green Car of the Year and World Design Car of the Year is an historic achievement and testimony to the pioneering spirit, engineering capability and sheer hard work put in by colleagues across the business. Look out for ways to join in the celebrations in the coming weeks on the digital screens and in On Track.
And in our new smartphone app competition we’ve already given away the F-PACE weekender to three colleagues this month. Congratulations to Ranjit, Claire and Dean. Will you win it this weekend?
While we’re on the subject of wins, it was fantastic to see Panasonic Jaguar Racing driver Mitch Evans win the Rome stage of the E-Prix - the first time Jaguar Racing has won for 19 years, and his first since 2016. It was great to see Mitch here at Solihull recently, and even nicer for him to mention the JLR plant teams in his victory speech.
It just goes to show that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes perseverance, patience and a desire to win - something I know we have in abundance here at Solihull.
Have a great week.
Dave Owen
