CB based Team Improvement Circle is making sure you know who to call in an emergency
A lot can happen in a single minute, a burst two-inch pipe can leak 200 litres of water, a fire can reach 200°C and chances of survival while waiting for a defibrillator can drop by 10 percent.
In an emergency situation getting help quickly can make all the difference.
That’s why ‘Safety in Numbers’ a Castle Brom based TIC team has made it their mission to ensure that everyone can quickly access the local emergency number no matter where you are at Jaguar Land Rover.
The team made up of Chris Willmott, Roger Moorcroft, Stuart Reid, Daniel Chambers and Ed Warne all work for Company Quality except for Ed who works in IT at Whitley.
With most of the team based in P Block, the circle represented the plant at the Indirect Areas Team Improvement Circle (TIC) Convention.
The team ran a survey using a company-wide sample that concluded that only 14 percent of employees were able to find a contact number for Business Protection for all sites in under a minute, with the majority 72 percent taking over two minutes to do so.
Issues such as not everybody having access to the shortened 3333 number, out of date contact details printed on old passes and people often working away from their home location were all identified as reasons for these delays.
The team then set out to make the numbers easily available and working with Business Protection have collected all of the emergency contact numbers for UK based and international Jaguar Land Rover sites.
They then arranged for all of these numbers to be available on the 'Your JLR' app which anyone with a smartphone can easily download from either the App Store or Google Play.
Once in the App you can find the numbers easily by clicking on the drop down menu at the top left of the screen.
“Over 20,000 people have already installed the 'Your JLR' app for easy access to things like news, employee offers and payslips online," said Daniel.
“Our TIC project has now given them all the ability to call in an emergency in just four simple steps.
“We’ve heard that our system has already helped out someone on plant who during a Daily Quality Review meeting began feeling unwell and required medical assistance.
“One of our colleagues had seen our TIC project and was able to reach the Business Protection team using the app and help soon arrived.
“Our next step is to get the word out further so that everyone knows about it and installs the app on their phones.”
If you haven’t already downloaded the app then this is a perfect reason to do so. Search ‘Your JLR’ from the App Store or Google Play today.
