The new Range Rover Evoque is technologically advanced compared to its predecessor and features a number of cutting-edge systems, which we will explain more about.
First up is ClearSight View, which has turned the transparent bonnet concept previewed on the Land Rover Discovery Vision into a reality.
Cameras located in the front grille and wing mirrors project a live feed to the Touch Pro Duo infotainment system showing what is ahead and underneath the front of the vehicle. The technology has been devised to help drivers negotiate extreme terrains off-road, concrete ridges within the urban jungle and everything in between.
The new rear view mirror also receives a video feed turning it into a HD screen giving the driver an unobstructed view of what is behind. At a touch of a button, the driver can see what is behind them without having to struggle looking beyond big items or tall passengers. Positioned above the rear window the camera comes with a wider 50-degree field of vision and is enhanced for low light visibility.
Alex Heslop, Director of Electronics and Software, Jaguar Land Rover said: “The new Evoque is one of the most technologically advanced vehicles available and with the smart rear-view mirror it literally has eyes in the back of its head.”
First seen on the Jaguar PACE family, the Evoque becomes the first Land Rover to benefit from Smart Settings technology. Using advanced artificial intelligence algorithms, the system will learn the driver’s habits over time and set the vehicle up according to their preferences, including even their favoured massage setting, with the profile saved on their key fob or smartphone.
The HSE-trimmed Evoques will join its bigger siblings with the dual-screen Touch Pro Duo infotainment set-up, featuring two 10in glass touchscreen displays and 12.3in digital driver’s instrument binnacle. The vehicle is also well set-up for the demands of staying connected on the move with a 4G wifi hotspot capable of connecting eight devices, six USB sockets dotted throughout the cabin, click and go rear tablet holders with charging capability and the inclusion of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Evoque is also future-proof, with all software updates for the vehicle downloaded wirelessly, meaning owners no longer have to visit retailers to get the latest software.
