Halewood Education Centre recently hosted the Regional Final of the popular Land Rover 4x4 in Schools Technology Challenge.
A team of students from Altrincham Grammar School in Manchester triumphed with their design of a Land Rover-inspired miniature remote control 4x4 that tackled a rugged obstacle course. The ‘Mancunian Way’ team achieved top marks in the Professional class by the judges for their vehicle.
Halewood apprentices Joe Broughton and Jonathan Hayes with former graduates David Ragg, Sajni Halai and Sara Hussain volunteered as judges and also supported a careers Q&A.
The Wildcats from our partner school All Saints Catholic High School in Kirkby won Best Engineered Vehicle, Best Track Performance, Judges’ Discretionary Award and the overall Development Class Award.
The Wildcats and Mancunian Way teams will join Blaze of Glory from Great Sankey High School who won the Entry Class Award at the UK final. The final will be held at the British Motor Museum, Gaydon in March.
