To celebrate Jaguar Racing returning to race in England for the first time in 17 years, we sent some lucky competition-winning colleagues to the heart of the action at the ABB FIA Formula E London E-Prix.
o celebrate Jaguar Racing returning to race in England for the first time in 17 years, we ran two competitions for employees to win 2 sets of hospitality and 25 sets of grandstand tickets to the ABB FIA Formula E London E-Prix.
James Minnock works in Purchasing at Gaydon and was one of our winners of hospitality tickets. He said: "Being our first experience of Formula E, the main word to describe the entire day would be WOW! The experience started before we arrived through the doors, seeing the Formula E cars testing on the track as we drove into the ExCeL centre. We fully expected the cars to be almost silent in comparison to Formula 1, however the thrill of hearing the track and electrical vehicles is still there. We were eager to get down to the pit lane and hopefully learn a bit more about the cars.
"The atmosphere on the grid and side-lines, with everyone packed in ready to go was ‘electric’ (pun intended). The red lights counted down and everyone was off, a crash early on put Sam Bird out and Mitch Evans had to pit briefly. The first bend became a highlight for all to watch as the main overtaking point in the race. All 45 minutes of the race were enthralling – seeing everyone use attack mode, watching the remaining battery percentages dropping closer to zero and seeing how much of a difference Fanboost has to those further back in the race.
"We rounded off the day watching the podium ceremony and driver Q&A - a fantastic way to finish such a wonderful experience. Many thanks to all who organise and take time to put this together, it is an experience we won’t forget!”
Rachel Kirby works in manufacturing at Solihull and was our second winner of the hospitality tickets. Rachel said: "We had the most amazing weekend! Our first experience of the E-Prix, and it certainly won’t be our last! Totally hooked. The behind-the-scenes tours and hospitality made the whole experience all the more memorable. Thank you so much JLR!"
Jo and Craig Hill, who work at the EMC and won a set of grandstand tickets, said: "It was fantastic to watch it live and the noise the cars make is awesome. The indoor / outdoor track really makes it interesting and watching the cars go from different track surfaces."
Martyn Bradburn from the EMC said: "Thank you to Jaguar Land Rover for the tickets for the E-Prix and what was a fantastic day. Me and my son, Archie had an awesome time!"
